Join the Bexley Historical Society on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, as we participate in this historic event and read the Declaration of Independence in front of the Bexley Historical Society Cottage Museum.

This reading is part of The “Sharing the Spirit of America” event which invites communities and individuals nationwide to simultaneously read the Declaration of Independence aloud at 6:00 PM EDT on July 8, 2026 commemorating the 250th anniversary of the very first public reading of the document in Philadelphia on July 8, 1776.

Because the country spans thousands of miles, local start times in each region are staggered to hit at the exact same cosmic moment:
