Lehmann Hall was the first building (1876) on the Capital University campus. It was named in honor of Rev. Dr. William F. Lehmann, president of Capital University when the college moved from downtown Columbus to acreage on Friend Street, now East Main Street.

Where Lehmann Hall once stood is now Capital University’s Front Lawn. This large greenspace provides an outdoor area for both Capital University and Bexley community events.

The building was initially used for classrooms, offices, a dormitory and the seminary.
