The Bexley Historical Society was saddened to learn that Bill Hoyer, a BHS trustee emeritus, passed away December 26, 2008, at the age of 93.
Bill was a Bexley High School graduate and president of his senior class. After graduating from The Ohio State University and earning an MBA from the Wharton School of Finance, Bill married Ann Altmaier, his high school sweetheart, and founded the William B. Hoyer Insurance Agency with his father and grandfather. Bill had a successful career and received many professional awards, including National Insurance “Man of the Year” in 1967.
Bill and his father were major patrons and fans of OSU football, helping to support and recruit players.
BHS trustee Barbara Hysell remembers Bill as a man devoted to his family and community. “He was very proud of the fact that he was a Bexley Historical Society Board member,” she says.
“Whenever the BHS wanted to do something extra, he was always the first to offer to pay for it,” she says.
The BHS extends our deepest sympathy to the Hoyer family and Bill’s many friends.
